Oratorio del Rosario di San Domenico + My Favorites
Sculptor Giacomo Serpotta's cherubs frolic forever among other pieces of art left behind at the Oratorio del Rosario di San Domenico. Founded by the Society of the Holy Rosary in the late 16th century, the oratory is located near the open-air market of Mercato della Vucciria. Address: Via dei Bambinai | Palermo, PA Tel: +39 (0) 91 332779
Oratorio di San Lorenzo + My Favorites
Facing the church of San Francesco d'Assisi, this Franciscan oratory's mahogany pews, lined with mother-of-pearl, were added in the 18th century. Master Giacomo Serpotta crafted 10 symbolic stucco carvings for the original structure, built between 1698 and 1710. Address: Via dell'Immacolatella | Palermo, PA Tel: +39 (0) 91 332779
Duomo Palermo + My Favorites
Palermo's Duomo is an example of how communication is key when erecting a structure as large and complicated as it is. Several architectural styles, ranging from Greek/Roman to Norman, have been incorporated in its design, but some critics say they do not necessarily compliment each other. Several members of various royal families are consecrated here. Address: Piazza di Cattedrale | Palermo, PA Tel: +39 (0) 91 334373
