Palace of the Normans (Palazzo dei Normanni) Although many Sicilian treasures have been stolen or damaged, this museum, housed in a 9th century palace, has the best collection on the island. There are outstanding mosaics from Sicily's period of Arab rule. The chapel's nave has a wooden stalactite ceiling, imported from North Africa. The Royal Apartments are also the seat of Sicily's regional government, and are often closed to the public. Address: Piazza del Parlamento Palermo PA Italy 90129
